Bethune-Cookman MEAC Wrap-upPublished by
GREENSBORO,
N.C. - The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman track & field
completed the final day of competition at Irwin Belk Track, pulling in
some strong finishes and personal records to close out. The Wildcats
turned in seven top-tier finishes in the finals. At the conclusion of
the meet, B-CU came away with three athletes named to the All-Conference
team. As teams, the Wildcats finished ninth on the women's side, and
tenth for the men. Leading the way on the final day of competition, Alexandria
Condell started out the day with an eighth-place finish in the
1500m run with a time of 4:55.80. Condell improved greatly on her
preliminary time in the 800m run, finishing second in a career-best time
of 2:12.76. Just two seconds out of the top spot, Condell earned the
All-MEAC nod for her half mile performance. "Alex ran two perfectly executed race plans and it
paid off beautifully for her," said B-CU Assistant and Distance Coach Matthew
Barreau. "The 1500m was a huge seasonal best and she grabbed a
point with her 8th place finish. Then just an hour later she ran a
lifetime best and earned her first All-Conference honor. It was a
terrific way to finish her Bethune-Cookman career." Also making a marked improvement in the finals, D.J.
Howard chipped in five points for the team, coming from eighth in
the 110m hurdles preliminary, finishing fourth with a faster time of
14.33 seconds. Read the full article at: b-cuathletics.com
